• This tour takes you to visit the most important Nicaragua’s Pacific natural reserves and parks. You will have the opportunity to climb active volcanoes and sleep at the top and share the reality of the local population in rural communities. The tour is divided into different activities for each place (low difficulty and high difficulty)in order to better fit your needs.
    It is also created in modules that you yourself can exchange to create the perfect trip to suit you!
  • MODULE 1

    Dificultad baja – Dificultad Alta

    Day 1:

    • Arrival in Managua and transfer to the city of León.
    • Presentation and complete description of the tour from the Tour-leader of El Perezoso Responsible Tourism Agency.
    • Afternoon relaxing on the beach of Peñitas and night in the city of León in the San Juan Hotel de León or similar.

    Day 2:
    Low difficulty

    • In the morning we climb Cerro Negro Volcano. This takes about 1h and it is easy. Once on the crater you will have an overview of all the volcanic chain in the area and you can go down its slopes practicing Sandboarding!! (for this activity no previous experience is required, you just have to follow our instructions and have the proper protective equipment).
    • In the afternoon we will visit the beautiful city of León, one of the most important colonial cities in Nicaragua with its rich history and revolutionary past.
    • We will spend the night in León in San Juan de León or similar Hotel.

    High difficulty:

    • Trekking y Sandboarding in Cerro Negro volcano– Trekking Volcán Pilas/El Hoyo + camping on the top.
    • After that we will continue our tour climbing Pilas volcano up to the imposing perfectly round craters of El Hoyo volcano! This hike lasts for about 4 hours between rich vegetation trails. Once at the top you will camp a few meters from the main crater. Here you will live the unique experience of sleeping on the banks of the mouth of an active volcano!

    Day 3:
    Low difficulty

    • Free morning in León.
    • In The afternoon we will exit towards the city of Chinandega, to climb the Telica Volcano, begin the trek from the nearest point to the crater known as “Cristo rey” from where it will take between 1- 2 hours to reach the top (depending on the pace of the walk). Once there you can observe the large amount of smoke and gases released by the volcano and the lava and incandescent rocks inside. All genuine experience!
    • Night in León in San de León hotel or similar

    High difficulty:

    Hoyo Volcano- Asososca Lagoon- León.

    • After enjoying the awakening of nature from the camp of El Hoyo volcano, you will walko fall toward Asososca lagoon, also known as Laguna del Tigre where you can give a deserved dip in the cool waters.
    • In the afternoon you will return to the city of León and Overnight at the San Juan de León Hotel or similar.

    Day 4:
    Low level:

    • In the morning we climb Cosigüina Volcano: the walk is low difficulty and we will take 2-3 hours to reach its top, from where you can see its rich vegetation and its lagoon inside the crater. You’ll also get a great view of the area around the peninsula Cosigüina and lands of neighboring El Salvador and Honduras across the Gulf of Fonseca.
    • We will spend the night in the city of León in the San Juan de León Hotel or similar.

    High difficulty:

    Trekking by Telica volcano leaving from “La Quimera”

    • We willclimb Telica Volcano from the lowest point known as “La Quimeta “; it takes about 3 hours to get to the crater. Here you have an extraordinary view of the fire chain and you can live the unique experience watching the lava inside the crater. !!
    • After enjoying the sunset from the crater of Telica begin our descent down the path of San Jacinto, it will take about 2 hours to go down and then we will move to the city of León.
    • will spend the night in San Juan de León hotel.

     

    MODULE 2

    Day 5:

    León- Estanzuela Waterfall – La Garnacha communty

    • Moving from Leon to Estelí heading toward the waterfall Salto Estanzuela, about 15 kilometers from the city. The hike to the waterfall is very quiet and once there you can enjoy a refreshing dip in its waters.
    • We will visit the beautiful nature reserve Garnacha where you can get in touch with several community work and participate in the various activities, such as the manufacture of artisan cheese, craft workshops and cultivation of medicinal plants among others .
    • We’ll spend the night in the city of Esteli in the Hotel Los Arcos.

    Day 6: Cañón de Somoto – Estelí

    Low difficulty

    • In the morning we will move to Somoto Canyon, one of the oldest rock formations in Central America. To reach the entrance of the canyon we will make a short tour by boat until the path becomes narrower; here we will go into the canyon using floats with the help of local guides !! The striking beauty of the place is an unforgettable experience. The overall activity will take between 2 and 3 hours.
    • free afternoon to enjoy the quiet town of Estelí.
    • We will spend the night in Estelí in the Hotel Los Arcos.

     

    High difficulty:

    • In the morning we will move to Somoto canyon up to the point where the rivers Comali from Honduras and Cusmapa from Nicaragua form the Coco River, the longest in Central America. The all tour will take approximately 5 hours.
    • We will spend the night in Estelí at Arches Hotel

     

    Day 7:
    Low level:

    • In the morning we will visit one of the main tobacco plantations and cigar factory, you will learn the growing process of tobacco and at the end of the tour you will have the chance of preparing your own cigar !!
    • In the afternoon we will travel to Selva Negra natural reserve located 13 km from the city of Matagalpa, which retains a unique beauty and it is surrounded by coffee plantations and rainforest.
    • We will spend the night in Selva Negra Hotel

     

    High difficulty:

    • Tabacco Tour – Free afternoon in Estelí town.
    • In the morning we will visit one of the main tobacco plantations and cigar factory, you will learn the growing process of tobacco and at the end of the tour you will have the chance of preparing your own cigar !
    • Free afternoon in Estelí.

     

    MODULE 3

    Day 8:

    Low difficulty:

    • Free day to enjoy Selva Negra. You can choose between 14 different trails where you can admire a variety of flora and fauna as well as horseback riding and learn the history of the farm.
    • Night at Selva Negra.

     

    High difficulty:
    Estelí – Jinotega – BOSAWÁS

    • In the morning we will travel to Matagalpa making a brief stop in Jinotega for lunch. Then we will depart towards Peñas Blancas, part of the Bosawás Biosphere Reserve, where we will know the work of the Center for Understanding Nature (CEN) and their projects with the residents of the area.
    • We will spend the night in the cabins of the Center of Understanding with Nature.

     

    Day 9:
    Low difficulty

    • Free morning in Selva Negra.
    • After lunch we will depart towards Peñas Blancas, part of the Bosawás Biosphere Reserve, where we will know the work of the Center for Understanding Nature (CEN) and their projects with the residents of the area.
    • We will spend the night in the cabins of the Center of Understanding with Nature.

     

    High difficulty

    • The day is entirely dedicated to the discovery of this important reserve, which is also known as “the lungs of Central America” because of its rich biodiversity and for being part of the biological corridor of the Americas.
    • This magical place is home to many species in danger of extinction existing in Nicaragua, such as the jaguar, tapir and other mammals.
    • There are different trails with various difficulty and length to explore the wild and exuberant nature, enjoy the scenery and learn about the lifestyle of rural populations. We can arrange with local guides the path that you want to do.
    • We will spend the night in the cabins of the Center of Understanding with Nature.

    Day 10:
    Low difficulty:

    • The day is entirely dedicated to the discovery of this important reserve, which is also known as “the lungs of Central America.” Its main trail is the Rainbow waterfall, it takes 2-3 hours to reach the summit. Once there you will enjoy the beauty of this magical place!
    • We will spend the night in the cabins of the Center of Understanding with Nature.

    High difficulty:

    • You can choose among several paths and trek with local guides.
    • You will spend the night at CEN’s cabins.

    Día 11:

    CEN-Managua

    • You will leave to Managua, where your trip will end up.
